The Cycling Guy has once again hooked up with Global Ride Productions for the 2012 season. Global Ride produces Virtual Cycling Training DVDs. Folks, these DVDs are full of scenery and they make you feel like your in Hawaii or Italy.
Global Ride currently produces DVDs including Hawaii cycling rides, Italy cycling rides and also the Dirty Dozen Cycling DVD which benefits the LiveStrong Foundation.
The Hawaii collection consist of 3 DVDs. These can be purchased individually or as a box set.
DVD #1 is the Maui Rollers:
This DVD is a combination of three separate sections of one road – the Hana Highway. If you like to ride on rolling hills, you’ve just found heaven. While there are some longer climbs here, by in large there are plenty of opportunities for recovery and speed.
DVD #2 is the Oceanside Ride:
This DVD is sneaky hard. Yes, it is a lot of flat riding along the oceans, but no, it is anything but a cakewalk if you choose to ride a steady state at a high pace. However, it is true that this DVD offers the greatest range for abilities, since you can do it at a recovery level steady state, or at a time trial steady state – you choose, and our three coaches will help you along the way.
DVD #3 is the StrenDurance Hawaii:
This DVD combines the elements of a strength ride (one that puts the emphasis on climbing and leg strength), and an endurance ride (one that puts more emphasis on heart rate training and consistency). Each section has a unique flavor, yet each one seamlessly merges into one complete kickin ___ workout.
The Italy collection consist of 3 DVDs. These can be purchased individually or as a box set.
DVD #1 is Speed and Power in Italy:
Warm up to a video montage of the architecture, canals, and little shops of Venice. After you find your legs on a gradual climb, you’ll get your speed fix by riding along a quiet highway overlooking the Ligurian coast near Bracco. These two sections lead to a brisk riverside run in Valstagna along the River Brenta. The fast pace of these flat to rolling sections will be the perfect setup for the killer climb that awaits you below the mountain village of Rocco. Finally, cool down to a photo montage of the behind the scenes activities of the film and riding crew, and the places where they stayed.
DVD #2 is Climbing Sufferage —- OUCH:
Enjoy short video clips of magnificent cathedrals and artistry of Italy. Follow that with an extended warm up climb on the Time Trial route of the 2009 Giro d’Italia. The middle climb represents the longest climb in Global Ride DVD history – 30 solid mountain minutes. Finally top off those legs in Switchback hell. Steep and relentless. The cooldown to behind the scenes pics will give an easy finish to one kick a** ride. Climb on the same road as the 2009 Tour of Italy, Stage 12, that Lance Armstrong called EPIC & Breathtaking.
DVD #3 is Urban Assault:
This DVD offers both flexibility and challenge to any cyclists, at any level. The entire workout is 1 hour long. The warm up and cool down are each only 3 minutes, so there’s not a lot of time for chit chatting. After an 8 minute set of flats and slight grades over looking the Ligurian coast, you are faced with the first of 2 twenty minute climbs that can be approached as either a 2 X 20 Power workout, or as a dual Steady State or Tempo ride with a 6 minute recover section between them. You set the agenda, and let the cities of Sori, Rapallo, Portofino and Camogli set the scenes. Unlike previous Global Ride DVDs shot in predominantly quiet rural areas, this DVD is shot right in the heart of these beautiful coastal cities, showing off both their architecture as well as their unique footprint along the coastlines they define.
Ideally suited for power training, this DVD takes you high above some of the most beautiful coastlines of Italy.
