Google announced today at the National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. that it has launched a bicycle-directions function in its Google Maps tool. “This new tool will open people’s eyes to the possibility and practicality of hopping on a bike and riding,” said Andy Clarke, President of the League of American Bicyclists. “We know people want to ride more, and we know it’s good for people and communities when they do ride more – this makes it possible. Carbon fiber composite frames require an astounding amount of hand labor from start to finish; there is almost no automation in their production. At Giant’s C-Tech factory in Taiwan, workers make hundreds of frames a day for Giant and other companies that sub-contract their production.
